The organizing design strategy of this targeted renovation to a 1955 home in Bedford, New York was to impact maximal change with minimal intervention for a client that is a first-time home buyer taking on their first home remodel. 

For our client, domestic life revolves around the kitchen and collective functions of the house. Previously a series of cellular spaces, openness was created by strategically demolishing two walls, creating a contiguous dining / living / kitchen area in the back of the house that opens on to the South facing backyard. The open floor plan extends daylight as far as it can reach by minimizing partitions and through two new French doors to the backyard.
